Küçük Sinemalar Bahar 2013 Playlist

Bu bahar gerçekleştirdiğimiz iki Küçük Sinemalar gösterimlerinde gösterilen çoğu işi aşağıda izleyebilirsiniz. Ayrı yetten, Altyazı Dergisinin Temmuz-Ağustos 2013 sayısında bu gösterimler hakkında küçük bir yazı yayınlanacak. Geniş bir Gezi dosyasının da bulunduğu bu sayıyı katiyen edinmenizi tavsiye ederim.

Bu Sahilde (On the Coast) is a short essay film on the ephemeral feeling of summer, observed in Erikli, a small coastal town on the Aegean Sea in Turkey. The film reflects on the nature of vacation, as it is a transformed version of reality, the fantastical counterpart to winter.

Küçük Sinemalar! - Hallwalls, 16 Ocak, 2011

"Küçük Sinemalar!", Buffalo, NY'daki Hallwalls Contemporary Art Center'da gerçekleşen, Türkiye'den çıkan bir deneysel sinema gosterimi idi. Altta eklediğim albümde programın çoğunluğunu oluşturan videoların hepsini izleyebilirsiniz. Programda ayrıyetten üç tane 16mm'lik film de gosterildi: Filmmakers' Cooperative kataloğundan bulduğum, Cengiz Yetken'in Of Eh (1968) isimli filmi ile benim Ayastefanos'daki Rus Abidesinin Yıkılışı serisinden iki film. Videoları yapanlar ise bu siteden tanıyabileceğiniz isimler: Can Eskinazi, Eytan Ipeker, Yoel Meranda ve Mustafa Uzuner. Programın tamamını altta ekledim.

Biografiler:

Can Eskinazi graduated from Bard College. His writings and reviews have appeared in Altyazi Magazine, and his film The Phantom Behind screened in Anthology Film Archives. He lives in Istanbul.

Eytan Ipeker was born in 1981 in Istanbul and graduated from New York University’s Film & TV Production Program. His experimental and narrative shorts were screened at numerous international festivals around the world, including the Abstracta Film Festival in Italy and the Toronto Film Festival. In 2010, he won the best experimental video award at 30th IFSAK National Short Film and Documentary Festival. He is currently working on a documentary project on the acclaimed Turkish pianist Idil Biret.

Yoel Meranda studied at Northwestern University, then moved to New York to work at The Film-Makers' Cooperative. Since 2006, he lives in Istanbul, working in film distribution and production. An essay he wrote on Douglas Sirk's "Imitation of Life" and an interview he did with François Ozon were published by the Radikal newspaper in Turkey. Yoel's experimental videos have been screened in New York, Chicago, Rome, Lucca, Thessaloniki and Istanbul. Four videos of his were screened at the City to City section of the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival. His website is waysofseeing.org.

Ekrem Serdar is from Ankara and lived in Buffalo for nine years and loved it. He mostly shows his work at Rustbelt Books in Buffalo and has also shown at the 2nd Electric City Spectacular, the !f Istanbul Film Festival and in the Pera Museum in Istanbul. He currently lives in Austin.

Mustafa Uzuner was born 1981 in Amasya. He studied Electronics Engineering in Istanbul and received a master’s degree from the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema at Concordia University. He currently lives and works in Montreal.

26 – 28 Kasım tarihleri arasında gösterilecek Hayat Bu programında Marie Losier ve Peter Hristoff’un hazırladığı 12 kısa video yer alıyor. Programda Losier ve Hristoff’un kısa film ve videoları dışında farklı sanatçıların da yapıtları yer alıyor. 26 Kasım Cuma akşamı saat 18:30’da Marie Losier ve Peter Hristoff ile program üzerine bir söyleşi gerçekleşecek.

Marie Losier sanatçılar Mike ve George Kuchar, Guy Maddin, Richard Foreman ve Tony Conrad’ın uluslararası kabul gören film portrelerini yarattı. Filmleri düzenli olarak Tate Modern, Whitney Museum, PS1, MOMA, Tribeca Film Festivali, Uluslararası Berlin ve Rotterdam Film Festivalleri ve Cinematheque Francaise’in de aralarında bulunduğu prestijli film festivalleri ve müzelerde gösteriliyor ve 2006 Whitney Bienali’nin parçasıydı. Uzun metraj belgeseli “The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye”in tamamlanmamış bir versiyonu 2009’da Centre George Pompidou’da gösterildi. 2009’da IFP Market’in parçasıydı. Marie 2000’den beri Alliance Française’in New York’taki kuratörü.

Marie Losier has created internationally acclaimed film portraits of artists Mike and George Kuchar, Guy Maddin, Richard Foreman, and Tony Conrad. Her films are regularly shown at prestigious film festivals and museums, in-cluding The Tate Modern, The Whitney Museum, PS1, MOMA, Tribeca Film Festival, The International Berlin and Rotterdam Film Festivals and The Cinematheque Francaise, and she was included in the 2006 Whitney Biennial. A work-in-progress version of her documentary feature, “The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye,” was presented in 2009 at The Centre George Pompidou. She was part of the IFP Market in September 2009. Marie is the film curator for the Alliance Francaise in New York since 2000.

Peter Hristoff
Peter Hristoff 1958’de İstanbul, Türkiye’de dünyaya geldi; ailesi 1963’te New York’a göç etti. Hristoff lisans eğitimini School of Visual Arts of New York’ta (1981) ve MFA’ini Hunter College, City University of New York’ta (1983) tamamladı. Resim için Joan Mitchell bursunu, çizim için The New York Foundation for the Arts bursunu ve Moon and Stars Project bursunu aldı.Hristoff 1981’den beri sergiler düzenliyor ve bugüne kadar 22 solo sergi ve 65 adet grup sergisi gerçekleştirdi. Son projeleri arasında Meandros Festivali, Residency Unlimited ile bir film işbirliği ve New York Flux Factory’de bir enstalasyon yer alıyor. Mezun olduğu okul olan School of Visual Arts’ta resim ve çizim profesörü. Hristoff İstanbul’daki C.A.M. Galerisi tarafından temsil ediliyor.

Peter Hristoff was born 1958 in Istanbul Turkey; his family immigrated to New York in 1963. Hristoff received his BFA from the School of Visual Arts of New York (1981) and his MFA from Hunter College, City University of New York (1983). He is the recipient of the Joan Mitchell Award in Painting, The New York Foundation for the Arts Award in Drawing and the Moon and Stars Project Grant. Hristoff has been exhibiting since 1981 and has had 22 solo and 65 group exhibitions to date. Recent projects include The Meandros Festival, a film collaboration with Residency Unlimited and an installation at the Flux Factory, New York. He is a professor of painting and drawing at his Alma Mater, the School of Visual Arts. Hristoff is represented by C.A.M. Gallery in Istanbul.

BIT UÇAĞI RADARDA GÖRÜNMEYECEKTİR

Yukardaki Türkçe çeviriyi kendim uydurdum ama burada haberini vermeye çalıştığım deneysel video gösteriminin adı THE BIT PLANE WILL NOT APPEAR ON THE RADAR. 30 Temmuz saat 7'de İstanbul'da Galatasaray'da gerçekleşiyor.

Programın küratörü Nathan Lee daha önce New York Times, Village Voice ve Film Comment gibi güzide yerlerde yazmış sinema ve sanat sevgisi dolup taşan bir arkadaşımız. Nathan hakkında daha fazla bilgi için buraya tıklayabilirsiniz.

Ne yalan söyliyim, Godard sevmem, seveni de sevmem, ama Nathan'a bir kıyak yapıp burada reklamını yapıyorum... Şaka bir yana, Messiaen ile başlayıp Apichatpong ile biten bir programa can feda.
